How Much Do Voice Lessons Cost in Atlanta? (2026 Pricing Guide)

Voice lessons at Southern Music Academy cost $159 to $304 a month for in-home lessons in Atlanta and $150 to $288 a month for online lessons. The price depends on the length of the weekly lesson. Each monthly payment covers 4 lessons, whether the calendar month has four weeks or five.
These are our prices as of 2026. Prices are subject to change.
This page covers the exact numbers, how the lesson year is scheduled, how our prices compare with the rest of Atlanta, why voice lessons cost what they do, and what a teacher gives your teen that practice alone cannot.
What are the numbers?
All lessons are weekly and month-to-month.
Lesson length | In-home, per month | Online, per month |
30 minutes | $159 | $150 |
45 minutes | $234 | $225 |
60 minutes | $304 | $288 |
Other costs:
There is a $45 registration fee per family.
There are no recital fees at this time.
There are no travel fees for in-home lessons at this time.
Books and materials are not included.
We recommend 45-minute lessons. That gives your teen time to warm up, work on technique, and still have time left for a song.
How does the lesson year work?
We teach in three sessions each year: winter, summer, and fall. Each session has 16 weekly lessons. The cost of those 16 lessons is split evenly into 4 monthly payments, so each payment covers 4 lessons.
3 sessions × 16 lessons = 48 lessons a year.
Lessons run from about January 2 to about December 19, give or take a few days.
The year has 52 weeks, so 4 weeks have no lessons.
Those 4 weeks are spread across the year.
Spring break: 1 week. Spring break moves from year to year, so each family chooses which week to take off in March or April.
Thanksgiving: the week of Thanksgiving has no lessons.
Christmas and New Year's: the last 2 weeks of December have no lessons.
Every monthly payment is the same amount, so you never work out a different bill for a five-week month. A family that takes every lesson in all three sessions gets 48 lessons.
What does that come to per lesson and per hour?
Each payment covers 4 lessons, so divide the monthly rate by 4.
Lesson length | Format | Monthly rate | Per lesson | Per hour |
30 minutes | In-home | $159 | $39.75 | $79.50 |
45 minutes | In-home | $234 | $58.50 | $78.00 |
60 minutes | In-home | $304 | $76.00 | $76.00 |
30 minutes | Online | $150 | $37.50 | $75.00 |
45 minutes | Online | $225 | $56.25 | $75.00 |
60 minutes | Online | $288 | $72.00 | $72.00 |
Longer lessons cost slightly less per hour. Online lessons cost slightly less than in-home because the teacher does not drive to your house.
How does that compare with other voice lessons in Atlanta?
Prices for voice lessons in Atlanta vary a lot. Online tutor listings for Atlanta show average rates around $42 an hour, and some start under $10. Those listings include a wide range of experience levels, from students teaching on the side to working professionals. National pricing guides for 2026 put the average at $50 to $70 per lesson, with a full range from $40 to $120.
Our rates sit in the upper part of that range, at about $72 to $80 an hour. The reasons are in the next section.
Why do voice lessons cost what they do?
The price of a lesson covers more than the 30, 45, or 60 minutes your teen spends singing.
Training. Every Southern Music Academy teacher is a college-educated musician with at least 5 years of teaching experience. A teacher with that background has seen a wide range of voices and knows what to try when the first fix does not work.
Preparation. Teachers choose songs that fit your teen's voice this month, plan the exercises, and decide what to practice before the next lesson. That work happens before and after the lesson.
Travel. For in-home lessons, the teacher drives to your house with everything needed for the lesson. We do not charge a travel fee for it.
A reserved weekly slot. Your teen's time is held every week, and the flat monthly rate keeps billing simple.
Recitals. We hold two recitals per year, and students do not pay a recital fee.
We have taught over 600 students, and 95% of our families stay enrolled from one month to the next. We think that retention comes from students making progress they can see and hear.
What does a voice teacher give you that you can't get alone?
Singing is physical. Your voice comes from muscles inside your body. You cannot see them, and you cannot easily feel exactly what they are doing. That is the main reason a person cannot teach themselves to sing well.
Voice lessons work like working with a personal trainer. You can read about exercise and watch videos, but a trainer watches you move and corrects what you cannot see yourself. A voice teacher does the same for your voice.
Here is what that looks like in a lesson.
Real-time feedback. The teacher hears what is happening in your voice as it happens, such as tension in the throat, a note that sits slightly flat, or breath that runs out early. You hear your own voice from the inside, which sounds different from how it sounds to everyone else.
Exercises chosen for you. A video can give you a general warm-up. A teacher picks the exact exercise for the exact problem your voice has this week.
An explanation of what is happening in your body. A teacher can tell you why a note is cracking and what to change, in plain words a teen can use.
Experience with the problem. A teacher who has worked with hundreds of students has likely met your problem before. That shortens the time between getting stuck and getting past it.
Catching bad habits early. Practicing a wrong technique every day builds the wrong habit. A teacher stops that before it sets in.
For teens, there is one more reason. Teen voices change quickly. A teacher adjusts songs and exercises as the voice settles, which a recorded course cannot do.
What is included in the monthly rate?
The monthly rate covers your weekly lessons, your teacher's preparation, travel for in-home lessons, and recital participation at no charge. It does not cover books and materials. The $45 registration fee per family is separate.
What happens if a lesson is missed?
If the teacher cancels, your family receives a financial credit for the lesson.
If your family cancels, tell your teacher at least 24 hours before the lesson. You will receive a makeup credit.
A makeup credit must be used within 14 days of the original lesson date.
Lessons are month to month. There are no minimum-term contracts.
Which lesson length should my teen choose?
Thirty minutes works for a teen who is just starting or who has a short attention span for focused work. We recommend 45 minutes for most teens, because it leaves room for technique and song work in the same lesson. Sixty minutes fits a teen preparing for an audition or working on several songs at once. We cover the choice in more detail in our post on how long a teen's voice lesson should be.
How do I compare voice lesson prices?
Price alone can mislead. When you compare quotes, ask each teacher or studio for these details.

Is there a contract? No. Lessons are month to month.
