The recent events with the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and the others, has created an outcry for the end of the mistreatment of African-American people among the citizens of the United States. As a Black owned business, we are touched by the support of the issues that African-American citizens have been fighting against since emancipation in 1865. We have personal experience of racism, and know first hand of its generational lasting effects on the Black community.

We have decided to do our part in working towards racial justice for all Black families, and have joined many others in supporting initiatives to end the cash bail system, support legal defense funds, create HBCU scholarships, establish urban community farms in food deserts, and many others.

The efforts of Southern Music Academy and its partners has already raised over $40,000 for scholarships at HBCUs, including Dillard University and Morris Brown, and $35,000 for Soul Fire Farm (community farm working to end racial injustice).
