Why I love Music:
Hi, I’m Cornell Stokes, a music educator and performer based in Metro Atlanta. I’m currently in my third year at Georgia State University, working toward a Bachelor of Music Education with a minor in Journalism. I’m passionate about helping students grow as musicians and strive for excellence, whether I’m working with middle and high school bands or providing private lessons.
I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a saxophone clinician at several schools, including Rockdale County High School, where I helped students prepare for a featured performance at the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) conference. Alongside my clinic work, I also teach private saxophone and piano lessons to students of all ages, tailoring each lesson to fit their individual needs.
I’m an active member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA). Performance-wise, I’ve played with the Georgia State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, GSU Basketball Band, GSU Marching Band, and a variety of chamber groups.
After finishing my undergraduate degree, I’m planning to continue my education with a Master’s in Music Education and begin teaching in the public school system. I’m excited about what’s ahead and look forward to continuing to share my love of music with others!
