Private Music Instructor - Piano
Ngan Nei Chan (Yanni), currently attends the University of Georgia pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts
degree in piano performance under the tutelage of Dr. David Fung and minoring in piano pedagogy under
Dr. Pete Jutras and Dr. Grace Huang and music theory under Dr. Adrian Childs. She also received her
Master’s degree in piano performance at the University of South Carolina under Dr. Marina Lomazov,
and her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin under Mr. Anton Nel.
Born and raised in Macau, Ms. Chan has performed as a solo pianist throughout China and the United
States. Performance appearances include three public solo recitals at the Macao Cultural Center in 2011
and 2012, recitals at the prestigious Steinway Hall in New York City in 2020, State Botanical Garden of
Georgia at UGA and the Sewanee Symphony Orchestra in 2019, among others. An active performer and
chamber music collaborator, Ngan Nei Chan has been a featured artist at many international music
A dedicated teacher and pedagogue, Ms. Chan’s students range from age five through adult, of all levels
and abilities. Ngan Nei Chan is a teaching assistant of college class piano and music minors at the
University of Georgia. Ms. Chan is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association and has
held various leadership roles within the community. She is currently the president of the MTNA
Collegiate Chapter at the University of Georgia. Other professional experiences include serving as a
young jury in the Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition in 2018, an associate in the Southeastern
Piano Festival and several internship positions at Chamber Music Athens and Brevard Music Festival.
A collaborative pianist, Ms. Chan enjoys playing music with other musicians; she is currently an active
accompanist of the University Chorus and Women’s Glee at the University of Georgia. When I am away from the piano, I love fitness activities, i.e. outdoor sports, running, hiking, lifting weights, and stand-up paddling to keep me active and stay healthy. I love traveling and outdoor exploration. I also enjoy going to art museums. I love the company of my two fluffy cats and my dog.
